Explore Warli art using stencil

Explore Indian folk painting-  Warli art for kids using stencils, step by step process with pictures!

Warli Artform is one of the easiest art forms for young kids to start learning and exploring India’s Folk art.  The simple geometrical figures used in a traditional warli painting to drawing humans and objects are easy to replicate. A Warli drawing comprises simple shapes likes dots lines, triangles & circles. You may introduce this Warli art for kids using stencils made with paper cuttings too, just like we did in this warli art project, we made for the Holi festival.

Steps to draw your own Warli art for kids using stencils

  1. Draw a background, here we have painted the paper in rainbow colours. You may keep it blank too, or use a coloured paper. 
  2. Take another stip of paper preferably a thicker one and draw a warli human and cut the insides to make a stencil.
  3. use this stencil to fill in the pattern. Repeat it multiple times as per the panting
  4. make some trees to decorate.
  5. voilla! your rainbow Warli art with stencils is ready,
