Building Ziggurats with LEGO bricks

Building a Mesopotamian’s pyramid or Ziggurats with LEGO bricks is so much fun with kids!

My son is a huge fan of legos and loves experimenting with blocks and bricks. We often end up building various structures with Legos like dinosaurs and seas creatures apart from different kind of trucks and trains. You may like to check our Instagram @tuggu.n.mommy and #TugguWithBlocks for all the fun we have with blocks. Recently we tried making a pyramid and later improved it to build Ziggurats with Lego Bricks.

Ziggurats with Lego Block

Some people might confuse it with a typical pyramid, but before going forward lets understand what is a Ziggurat first.

What are Ziggurats?

Ziggurats were the places where Mesopotamian Gods were worshipped. They were built very tall with multiple levels and giant stairs in between taking to heaven . These ziggurats were made of mud bricks and topped with a temple, where the gods slept at night .A typical Mesopotamian’s pyramid or Ziggurat looks something like the below.

ACTIVITY to build LEGO Ziggurats

In this activity, we tried making a pyramid first and later improved it to build the famous stair case structure of Mesopotamian’s pyramid orZiggurats with Lego Bricks.  It was a really insightful time we had, building and learning the ancient houses and temple structures.

  • To start with the directions would be to make a house out of Legos ( basically, all houses are built along the same design).
  • Then we added levels in the structure
  • And then comes the stairs connecting these structures.
  • finished it with the flags.
  • voila! our Ziggurats with Lego bricks is ready!

There could be various possible ways to build any other type of pyramid  or Ziggurats with Lego bricks with your kids. You may try going ahead making other beautiful structures with lego too as they are so versatile.

Hope this post has motivated you enough to make your own version with your child today!  Follow #TnM_Activites for many such ideas on Instagram @tuggu.n.mommy and Facebook @tuggunmommy
