Today, I am sharing how we recreated the famous Vincent Van Gogh Starry Night art! This Van Gogh inspired art project activity is perfect for exploring blending with kids. Actually, any art form that is tried with kids doesn’t have to be difficult or messy, and it doesn’t always have to cost a lot either! You can also add in some fun by adding multiple textures and learn the famous artists’ famous artwork!
The Starry Night by Van Gogh
The famous – Starry Night is a painting by the Dutch painter – Vincent van Gogh. He had painted this in 1889 and it is considered one of his best works. The Starry Night is also one of the most recognized paintings in the world.
Van Gogh Starry Night Inspired art for kids!
Introduce your kids to this wonderful art with some innovative yet fun technique! We can recreate, Starry Night a masterpiece by the great Vincent Van Gogh with just a few simple steps. Using the ‘The Starry Night’ printable (enclosed down below) the kids can make their own Van Gogh Starry Night! The swirling sky, the stars and the moon along with the village below, and the dark tree in the front make this artwork a fun painting to recreate with kids.

Steps to recreate your own Van Gogh inspired Starry Night Art Project
- Download the printable or try painting the swirls of the wind, mon and plenty of starry on paper.
- colour the sky blue with white and yellow in the centre depicting the light
- keep the tones of the painting dark with dark colours
Your kids will have a blast learning the fundamentals of colour and movement as they meet Vincent van Gogh– one of history’s most legendary artists.
Kids will carefully consider the painting through a series of guided discussion questions, explore the scientific concept of luminosity as it relates to this painting, and participate in open-ended projects that connect them with their own creativity.
