A look into the gripping trailers of ‘Rangbaaz’, a new ZEE5 original series
With the recent success of many web series in India, the gates for original Indian digital content has now opened. Even the biggest stars from Bollywood are taking up some interesting roles in this medium and giving their best to woo the audience. In a year that is seeing the golden run of web series in India, there is another series that has managed to catch the audience’s attention – ZEE5’s Original series Rangbaaz. A gritty story that feels fresh and the presence of some spectacular talent from Bollywood, the show surely seems like one that would be a great watch.
What is Rangbaaz?
Rangbaaz is an upcoming ZEE5 Original series, starring Saqib Salim, Aahana Kumra, Ravi Kishan, Tigmanshu Dhuliya and Ranvir Shorey. It is a crime thriller set against the rustic background of the Gorakhpur of the ’90s. Inspired by a real story, the show explores crime, bloodlust along with the dirty politics prevalent at that time.
Rangbaaz – The Trailers Review
Before the series’ big release on 20th December 2018. ZEE5 has launched a series of character trailers to give us a glimpse into the world of Rangbaaz. Here is what I came to know about the show from the trailers.

Trailer one –
The first trailer gives a glimpse of the main character of the show, Shiv Prakash Shukla, brilliantly played by actor Saqib Salim. Fast paced and crisp, the trailer gives a sneak peek into the history of the central figure of the series, Shiv. The points that stand out are – how, by the age of 25, he was accused of more than 20 murders. But we also get to know about Shiv’s dream i.e to rule the underworld. But the biggest point that comes across in the trailer is how Shiv is devoid of any sort of fear. This fearless vibe was constant throughout the trailer.
2. Trailer Two
The second trailer introduces the character of Ram Shankar Tiwari, played by the talented Tigmanshu Dhulia. From the word go, the trailer establishes Tiwari as an intimidating personality who knows his ways around politics. A strong influence over Shiv, Tiwari uses the gangster well to unleash violence in a systematic manner.
3. Trailer Three
After focussing on the baddies in the first two trailers, the third trailer shifts the focus towards Siddharth Pandey, a no-nonsense, straight-arrow cop played by Ranvir Shorey. From the looks of it, Siddharth seems to be spearheading the task force assigned to take on Shiv in the show.
4. Trailer four
This fourth trailer introduces another exciting character – Chandrabhan Singh played by the Bhojpuri sensation Ravi Kishan. He is seen guiding the lead character Shiv and is the mastermind behind Shiv’s crimes. The one and half minute trailer majorly focus on the influence of two gurus (Chandrabhan and Ram Shankar) over their shishya (Shiv Prasad).
5. Trailer five
While the previous trailers established their gritty side of Rangbaaz, the fifth trailer indicates shades of romance in this dark tale too. Shedding light on Shiv’s relationship with Babita, her character played by Aahana Kumra, comes across as a strong and fierce girl. But all is not love-dovey here. After a glimpse into their romantic moments, the trailer shows how their calls are being tapped by the task force to nab Shiv.
Will their love story survive the battle between underworld and police? This answer will only be revealed with Rangbaaz’s release.
Penned by RJ Siddharth Mishra and Nishkanth Kamat as the creative director. Rangbaaz, a star-studded crime drama surely seems to pack a punch, going by its gripping trailers.
